Brantôme

A very cozy place built around an abbey. The abbey is built from the limestone that sat in the mountain behind the abbey. The spaces that have been created in the caves are now used for, among other things, shops. There is a space there that is used by a well-known glassblower who makes beautiful art objects. A canoe trip or a round trip is possible.

History[ edit ]

Main article:  Oradour-sur-Glane massacre

A new village was built after the war on a nearby site, but on the orders of the then  French presidentCharles de Gaulle , the original has been maintained as a permanent memorial. the  Center de la Memoire d'Oradour  museum is located beside the historic site.

Rochechuart

On the territory of this municipality we find the remains, indications of a meteorite impact 200 million years ago. The twisted tower is a Tartarian architectural style and is said to be intended to convert magnetism from the earth into energy

Aubeterre

The church in the village is interesting in terms of art history, but the most impressive building in Aubeterre sur Dronne is the church built into a rock. Actually it was not built but merely carved out.  There are more in the south-west of France. There is a underground church in Saint Emilion and a carved chapel in Mortagne-sur-Gironde. In addition, there are many churches that are half-hewn out of a rock, such as in Rocamadour.
